The Kurá Hulanda Museum stands on land once cared for by the Indigenous peoples of Curaçao.
For centuries before European colonization, they were cultivating the land, navigating the sea, and creating rich cultural traditions.
We recognize that this land remains part of their ancestral heritage, and we honor their contributions, survival, and enduring presence. Their memory lives on in the Papiamentu language, the island’s culture and the spirit of Curaçao.
